WE ARE A BATHHOUSE,

NOT A SPA

Bathhouses have been a vital part of people's lives throughout history. For as long as humans have lived, we have used bathhouses as places for physical health, emotional restoration, communal connection, and spiritual practice.

The objective of Otter Waters is to offer Vermont a bathhouse facility that is a communal gathering space which serves as a hub for health, soul nourishment, and community engagement, with a strong commitment to radical inclusivity.

The feeling of luxury associated with bathhouses stems from the inherent decadence of elemental comforts such as water, warmth, and community. To us, it is imperative that people can care for themselves in this primal manner which should be accessible to all humanity.

OUR VALUES

Mutuality: Care flows in every direction.

We believe care is reciprocal more than transactional.
Customers care for staff. Staff care for customers.
We all care for the space, and the space cares for us.

We all cultivate an environment of shared responsibility and show up for one another as humans first.

Collective Care: Well being is relational.

Health is not an individual achievement — it is something we build together.
We prioritize connection over transaction. We practice collaboration, kindness, and patience. We value process over product and relationships over speed. We use non-toxic materials — and foster non-toxic relationships and work cultures. We intervene seriously when it comes to health, safety, and how people are treated.

Radical Inclusivity: Every body belongs.

All bodies and identities belong here. We actively try to create comfort, not just claim openness. We design experiences that feel personal and welcoming. We celebrate difference rather than flatten it. We commit to ongoing learning and accountability. Here inclusivity is not a statement, it is a practice.
